Lottery Madness

30 Mar

The Mega Millions jackpot is up to a whopping $640 million right now. So naturally everybody everywhere is going completely and totally nutso. The grocery store had a line roped off last night for people buying tickets for tonight’s drawing and I can only imagine what convenience stores and Shop Rites all over the area must be like right now.

It brings me back to my high school days working as a cashier at Rite Aid… ahhh the not-so-glory days. At some point in my time there the Mega Millions went up to around $800 million and I had the unfortunate task of working there on the night the lottery dropped. Oh the madness, the insanity, the crazy amounts of money wasted on these poor dreams. People lined up and literally wrapped around the store until 8 p.m. when the lottery closed, buying $50 and even $100 worth of tickets, while I stood there pushing the same button over and over again, asking “cash or annuity, cash or annuity.” You bet I called up my friends when I got done my shift and made fun of all those nut jobs for days and days. The fact is that in my three years at Rite Aid the most money I ever saw come from any lottery ticket was about $100. And that was from a scratch off. You just don’t win.

Still while I was in the grocery store last night, staring at all those people, in the midst of my judgement my eyes flashed to the money on the lottery sign. There was so much of it, so so much.  I need so money for so many things, and there it is, just enticing me. So much money. How could it hurt to buy just one… oh no, I’m getting sucked in! I can’t avoid it! Someone help!

And that’s how I ended up with four lottery tickets for tonight’s Mega Millions lottery drawing.

Vide-OH! of the Day

Sorry for not posting in forever. Honestly I’ve been doing a lot worth posting, but I’ve also lost my camera cord and charger… so…

Erica Bauwens, blogger extraordinaire.

Anyway, hopefully I’ll find my camera cord/charger within the week and post the two million pictures and projects I have to share, but until then enjoy this awesome chick! She runs “My Drunk Kitchen,” basically getting slightly wasted and sharing some type of generally easy recipe in the process. It’s so funny, she rocks and you will enjoy this.

I was just introduced to these recut trailers, and they are absolutely hilarious. The Mary Poppins horror movie is a close second in my book.

This video is adorably hilarious. That baby takes the prize for the world’s best cuddler.

I love bears. They are one of my favorite animals. When I worked at a nature park in college I taught a lesson to kids on black bears, and I just fell in love with them!

So naturally I had to share this totally awesome black bear that I just saw.

I would only go to Canada if I had this little gentleman greeting me.

By the way, check out this guy’s other talking animal videos. He is most famous for the “Ultimate Dog Tease” but I really like the turf war video and his 12 Days of Christmas rendition.

Megan Mullaly… aka Karen from Will and Grace… aka Tammy 2 from Parks and Recreation… aka one of the cutest ladies on TV… is one of my favorite actresses. Growing up I wanted to be Karen. Fabulous, bitchy and acceptably drunk all the time with a wonderful gay best friend. All I had was the wonderful gay best friend… never got to the fabulous part.

Anyway, check out Megan (joined by a very young John Goodman at the end) in one of her first acting gigs here. That woman hasn’t aged a day… so fabulous.

Best Part of the Super Bowl

5 Feb

I couldn’t care less for either team in the Super Bowl this year. Then again, it was still the Super Bowl, so of course we had a party, cooked a crapload of food and watched it.

My favorite part of the Super Bowl? Why, the NBC musical number of course!

Just One More Reason to Love “30 Rock”

27 Jan

Check out my boo, the Phillie Phanatic making a PHANTASTIC appearance on last night’s episode of 30 Rock. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love every episode of 30 Rock, but with the addition of my Philly boyfriend and the mock-“Valentine’s Day” preview in the beginning, that might have been the best episode I’ve seen since the season 3 Christmas special.

Check out the (definitely pirated) video here!

I’ve really enjoyed hockey this year. Every season I say I’m going to watch more hockey and always end up missing out, but this year I finally am and it’s awesome.

Anyway here’s Sergei Bobrovsky’s mini-victory dance a few days ago after stopping the last penalty shot to win the game. I love him, and you will too. P.S. he’s super Russian, if you can’t tell by the name or music.
