It’s time to step up our game

7 Mar

Ever since I was young I’ve tried hard to be as involved in the conflicts of Africa as I could. In high school my Literature of the Holocaust class raised over $5,000 to help provide the refugee camps of Darfur with clean drinking water. Entering college and being preoccupied with being in college definitely distracted me from something that used to be very important to me, and having very little money for the last decade has made it more difficult to donate.

This video made me remember that while I was busy sleeping in and drinking, children were dying at the hands of monsters. The world is a scary place when we take the time to step outside of our bubble, but we can help!

This grassroots movement aims to arrest Joseph Kony by the end of 2012 and help put an end to child soldiers in Uganda. It’s driven entirely by us, the people with a voice, and by social media.

Check out the video, and most importantly share it! You may be as broke as I am, but we can let those that influence our media hear this message and help do something to stop it. So let’s use the sites that we are already glued to all day, every day to save lives!

Get Your Craft On!

2 Mar

As we all know, March is National Craft Month. Oh… you didn’t know that? Yeah I guess no one does but whatever.

To celebrate I would like to totally jam my blog up with fun, funky, affordable crafts and creations. Obviously I’ll post some myself, but I’m a working woman! And unfortunately that means I don’t have as much time to craft as I would like to… meaning all day, every day, every single second.

If you have a craft, painting, recipe or creative tip to share please submit your ideas to the masses. Click the “submit” tab in the upper right corner for details on how to do your thang. Submissions will of course get complete and total credit for everything they do. Besides that, stay tuned for this month of crafting glory!

Happy National Craft Month!

Get a little weird… write for me!!

20 Feb

Hi guys!

So apparently people enjoy reading me rant about weird stuff, because this blog is starting to pick up speed!

My ultimate goal when starting this blog was to create an atmosphere for guys and ladies like me to enjoy. I want to share things that I am into and things that are picking up speed in the world around us. Recently I have realized that there

A baby bunny, to keep your attention

are a lot of things going on around me that I really don’t have the right to talk about, which is why I’m looking for extra writers!

I am surrounded by insanely interesting people in my life, and through this blog I have met even more, and I want all my readers to meet them to! I’ve already heard from some people that are interested, and while I’m in the beginning phases of this idea, I hope it can develop into something great. Mind you this would be a free-freelance job, as I make no money off of this, but who knows where things could lead if it picks up speed as hoped!

If you’re a grad looking for a job, student about to graduate, a mom/dad, newlywed or newly-engaged fiance, sports lover, art advocate, interesting person, boring person with a weird hobby, I would love to include you in this blog! I have added a new tab at the top of this blog called “Submit!” with details on how to join in the takeover!

Right now I’m in the process of thinking up a new name, buying a domain and perhaps redesigning the page (if any of my graphic design friends would be so inclined to help) to make it less me-centered and more my-world-centered, because my world is pretty crazy.

I can’t wait to see where things go with this!

This Just In: Mac’s Update!

26 Jan

The ladies have come forward and payed in full!

Isn’t that awesome? It’s amazing what a completely humiliating confrontation will do to people with no morals.

This Just In: SOPA is Dead!!

20 Jan

We did it!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Judiciary Command chairman Lamar Smith have postponed SOPA/PIPA from the test voting, in light of recent events.

What’s that mean?

Everyone hates it!

After the blackouts from websites all over the Internet, the bad guys that thought up this dumb plan have decided to back down. They said all this mumbo jumbo about bringing it back up once the pressure has come back down (AKA the fight from all of us who weren’t going to take it), but let’s be serious. If we all hate it this much now, we’re certainly not going to love it tomorrow!

That’s right, we stopped them!

I can’t help but be super proud here. Through all of this, I wanted so badly to still be able to trust my government. I mean, if you can’t ultimately trust the people running your country then why live there? I’m so proud that they heard our voice, and shut down what was wrong.

Next stop… gay marriage?
